WHAT DO MULTISPECTRAL IMAGING SENSORS CAPTURE?
Multispectral sensing is the practice of using one sensor to image multiple areas of the light spectrum at the same time. When used in agriculture, multispectral sensing targets areas of the light spectrum that pertain to plant biology. Depending on factors such as growth stage, level of stress, or impact from disease, plants reflect light differently. Multispectral sensors measure this difference.

One sensor can image specific sections of the visible and non-visible light spectrum, allowing for precise and accurate analysis.
Multispectral sensors capture information that cannot be seen with the human eye, enabling early detection of issues like disease, water stress, pest infestation, nutrient deficiencies, and more. The specific filters on multispectral cameras highlight changes in chlorophyll content in plants, which is oftentimes an indicator of disease or stress. With a multispectral camera, variation in vegetation becomes obvious. Analytics and outputs from this imagery can be used to direct teams for ground-truthing, targeted fertilizer or pesticide applications, precision thinning, and many more applications.

Research has shown that to truly assess plant health and not just vigor, chlorophyll content must be taken into account. To measure chlorophyll content, specific bands of light must be used. One such band, featured in the MicaSense RedEdge camera, is the Red Edge band, an extremely narrow and precise band of light between Red and Near-Infrared. When used in conjunction with other bands and analyzed properly, bands like Red Edge provide a more accurate measure of plant health, having a bigger impact on a grower’s bottom line.

MULTI-SPECTRAL SENSORS

RED EDGE-MX
The RedEdge-MX is a rugged solution providing basic crop health indicators.
This built-to-last, professional multispectral sensor is for agricultural crop and vegetation mapping captures the spectral bands required for basic crop health indices and additional bands to power further analytics. The RedEdge-MX is a multispectral powerhouse – with a compact size and low weight that works with our drones.

RED EDGE-MX DUAL CAMERA IMAGING SYSTEM
The RedEdge-MX Dual Camera Imaging System captures double the spectral detail in one shot.
This system is a synchronized 10 band solution for advanced remote sensing and agricultural research. This solution seamlessly integrates two five-band cameras, the RedEdge-MX and the RedEdge-MX Blue, capturing 10 band imagery in one flight. Compatible with all our drones and industry-standard software platforms (Pix4D, Agisoft) this imaging solution ensures that flying with two cameras is just as easy as flying with one.

RED EDGE-P
Price starts at $11,400 CAD
The NEW RedEdge-P: The ultimate solution for high-res RGB and multispectral data
The RedEdge-P is the rugged, high-quality, powerful multispectral sensor that now includes a high-resolution panchromatic band for sharpened output resolutions of 2cm (at 60m) -twice the ground resolution of the industry-standard RedEdge-MX. It is a single-camera solution that captures calibrated high-resolution multispectral and RGB imagery, with an optimized FOV and capture rate for efficient flights.
This solution seamlessly integrates a high-resolution all-color imager with synchronized multispectral imagers to enable pixel-aligned outputs at previously unattainable resolutions while maintaining the efficiency and reliability of the RedEdge legacy. Raw data from RedEdge-P can be processed using industry-standard software platforms. The camera system is compatible with all our drones.

ALTUM-PT
Price starts at $22,850 CAD
The NEW MicaSense Altum-PT: The ultra-high-resolution system using panchromatic, thermal, and multispectral sensors.
The Altum-PT is an optimized 3-in-1 solution for advanced remote sensing and agricultural research. This solution seamlessly integrates an ultra-high-resolution, 12 MP panchromatic imager, a built-in 320 x 256 radiometric thermal imager, and five discrete spectral bands. Easily obtain synchronized outputs such as RGB colour, crop vigor, heat maps, and high-resolution panchromatic in just one flight.
Higher resolution also allows you to discern issues at the plant level, even in the early growth stages, including early-stage stand counting. Altum-PT also features a global shutter for distortion-free results on any of our drone systems, open APIs and standard data formats for compatibility with multiple processing platforms. A new professional removable storage system allows two captures per second and the fastest turnaround time between flights.
